Essentially, Roles Based Access Control is an authorization and access tool for files, projects, or programs based on the user role, and is slightly less granular than Attributes Based Access Control which applies more factors for granting permissions.
Security permissions define what content a user can view, edit, or share based on their assigned security classification. When security marks are assigned to content, users can only access content to the level of their required security permissions.
Marks are the security controls added to content, or attributes of content, that assign access level to users based on their role. Records, folders, and categories of content can be batched for security and access to users, or user groups.
Security controls are the tools used, either manually or automatically, to set permissions for content access, determine content classification, and audit user and content behavior correlations. The controls are intuitive and easily managed, giving administrators confidence in their correct application.
